All About Lenora

Every now and then a sound is added into the rotation of the gospel music genre. This new sound spreads a message of life and liberty. Lenora Hightower is a contributing factor to this message of hope and restoration. A definite flute with a lion’s heart, this singer/psalmist, musician, evangelist, teacher, actor, and songwriter is the total package equipped with everything needed to be a pillar in the gospel music arena. With 30 plus years invested in her music career, Lenora has roots in R&B and Opera as well. Billboard Music awarded her 1st place in the R&B category for her original song “The Best Times” in the 1994 Billboard Music Songwriters competition, which was judged by Quincy Jones.  She also spent time in Opera Workshop under the tutelage of Bernadine Oliphant at Texas Southern University. Although this was indeed an exciting season in her music career, 1999 brought about a conversion to serve in the Kingdom of God. A total surrender to God and His work resulted in a resignation on her desires to entertain exclusively in the secular music industry. Shortly after this transition, she was introduced to the owners of Diamond Music Entertainment. She began work immediately with Marcus Dawson, personal organist to the world renowned Bishop T.D. This music relationship opened the door to her involvement in numerous projects. You have heard the melodious vocals of Lenora on the background vocals of the opening theme song for Bishop Jakes’ talk show “The Potter’s Touch”, lead vocals on Jakes’ Maximize the Moment infomercials, background vocals on the Maximize the Moment CD version, lead and background vocals on Whitaker House Publishing Pre-productions for Bishop George Bloomer, lead vocals on “This Joy” for Joe Pace and Colorado Mass Choir’s “Glad About It” CD for Integrity Records, lead vocals on “Build You An Altar” for Tyscott Records live recorded CD  “Power of Worship/Sound of Praise”  along with Dr. Leonard Scott, Gary Oliver, Israel Houghton, and Joe Pace. Lenora was also the Houston Region Winner of the Vicki Winans Rising Star competition in October 2005 at the Verizon Wireless Theatre. You can also enjoy Mrs. Hightower’s creative lyrics on the Hezekiah Walker 20/85 CD in which she was a co-writer on the song titled Jehovah Reigns. In addition, Lenora has shared her anointed teaching and singing gift in Gospel Music Workshops locally and in Copenhagen, Denmark in 2006 and 2008, Kalundborg, Denmark in 2011 and Okinawa, Japan in 2014. Lenora continues to minister at conferences, weddings, other special events, and create musical arrangements for special projects upon request. She also continues to do exactly what her God given assignment is: To speak and sing life into earthen vessels.
